Music Festival & Outdoor Events

The clocks have gone forward and summer is on the way. Now is the time that organisers for music festivals & outdoor events are starting to plan events throughout the summer.

Where do you start when there is so much to do to put on an event? It can seem a daunting task but with the right people, the right preparation and planning you can put on a successful event.

Once you have identified where you are going to hold your music festival or outdoor event, there is a long list of things to consider:-

  • How many people are going to come?

The list seems endless but is all achievable and as each event is different the requirements to comply with will also be different. For example putting on a music festival is very different from arranging a school summer fayre, although some of the planning elements are the same.

The most important part of your event is the focal point for the entertainment, being a stage or an arena.

At a music festival, the stage, the sound and the lighting production are essential to get right. The bands want to be able to perform perfectly so your audience will have a brilliant time.

The only thing we can’t control is the weather! A pleasantly warm day is perfect. However, as organisers make sure you have your festival wellies and rain ponchos at the ready just in case!

Charity Fun Run | PA Hire | Santa Dash

Along with the Santa Dash Charity Fun Run PA Hire. The Hospice of St Francis have asked the team at Just Smile to provide the event services for all of their major fundraising events and activities. Obviously it goes without saying that we are delighted to work with the amazing team at The Hospice…

On an early Sunday morning in December, our team arrived at The Riverside in Hemel Hempstead. It was the 11th December, and it was a little chilly, but our team delivered a small platform stage, simple PA Hire and a gazebo to keep it all safe from the elements. We have provided PA Hire in various shapes & sizes now for the hospice. Two of our team also took part in the charity fun run 😉

We are always keen to work with more groups and organisations (charities included) to provide PA Hire for any type of indoor or outdoor event.

We have recently also joined the Hospice as a corporate partner, and both David & Tim from the Just Smile team actually took park in the Santa Dash this year and raised over £700 for the Hospice of St Francis this year… (well done guys)

We were asked to provide some basic event production for this beautiful Wedding at The Conservatory at Luton Hoo Walled Garden. We provided White Stage, for both Chuppah and band, Backdrops for stage, ceremony & to partition the room and a nice big White Starlight Dance Floor.

The band performing on the day were Pure Orange who were fantastic and was a pleasure as always to work with Dean and the team, and the florist was the excellent Alexandra.

The Conservatory at Luton Hoo Walled Garden

The Conservatory is a huge luxury marquee based in the grounds of the Luton Hoo Estate. You gain access a different entrance to the hotel. The marquee is stunning & well maintained and attracts many events. It has a good capacity and is well located near the M1.

We were approached by Summerswood Primary School in Borehamwood to provide our Festival Stage Hire and help them elevate their already successful ‘Woodfest’ event. They wanted to become a little more professional, and pull together all of the resources which in the previous year had been pulled together through friends etc

The event is attended by around 2000 people, mostly the parents and children of Summerswood Primary School, and the event raises money toward the running of the School.

Just Smile provided our Festival Stage, Shermann Audio RS5 Festival Sound system, with mixing desk, mics, sound & stage crew. The school also approached Elstree UTC who provided some lighting & students to operate it, for which we assisted them with site power etc.
